Electrical Faults

You know over the weekend I sat and realized how many electrical appliances have failed since I've lived here, and in my honest opinion it's been far more than I've ever experienced in my life time. The reason I'm posting this is because apart from the odd noise, and shadow (see Victorian Man In Black post) and just odd sensations, things again have quietened down.

But the other afternoon I noticed my Dolby system was making a really unusual sound, it was like an odd interference, which to my ear at a distance sounded like a crackle, it was coming from the front two speakers, but not the center one. I figured the system just needed an unplug, and reset. So I turned it all off and went away to make a cup of tea, to then come back and turn it all back on. Well clearly this action made it worse as now the two rear speakers were also making a really unusual sound, but this time rather than switching it off I decided to turn it up louder than before. I ran a few test sounds through the system, just simple tones to try and clear it, but they all sounded really distorted, but oddly I could just hear this background noise, it was very faint but I could hear it.

I placed my ear really close to front speakers, and to my shock it actually sounded like a voice, it was like sometimes when I pick up the phone here, it sounds like I have a shared line?, although I don't. I couldn't make out any clear words, but the sense of hearing what I thought was voices actually sent a real chill down my spine.

I was interrupted with the land line phone ringing, and one of the features I have is caller display, yet this time it just said "Call", so I answered it thinking it would be a telephone sales call, but it was nothing. Again because I get so many calls like this I didn't really think anything of it. But it wasn't until I went back to my small office/studio that it just all felt really odd.

When I look back over the last couple of years I try to add up all of the electrical things that have failed, I think I've around 3 laptops, 1 mobile phone, 1 domestic phone, a couple of computer components, a games console, and the list goes on, but they have all failed, and all have been new to moving here, it just seems an awful lot.

The under pull

Well isn't it strange, as of late I've had 3 people ask me how have things been in my house, and my reply has been "Pretty quiet apart from the odd shadow", which brings me back to last night.

On Sunday evening I got into bed with a lovely feeling of joy, due to having put new sheets on the bed, which is always a winner to a good nights sleep. Well I had only been in bed for around 8 minutes when it felt like the sheet underneath me was being pulled to the outside edge of the bed, yet oddly I sleep pretty much on the edge of the right hand side.

My mind at first thought it must have been my gf getting into bed to my left, but my legs actually felt like they were pulled to my right. The crazy things about it was, I wasn't even remotely close to falling asleep, and actually made a point of getting out of bed, turning on my light and checking under the covers.

As for my nights sleep, well it seemed I had infinite dreams that lasted 10 minutes at a time, and after each one I awoke.

Day Time Activity

Well I've decided to take this week off from work, mainly because it's my birthday, and I've got some many things that needed doing around the house, plus I just wanted to relax and enjoy myself a little as the opening part of this year has been hard work.

So I was just in the kitchen making myself a salad wrap, when I heard a door close in the house somewhere. Upon investigation it seems my bathroom door had closed itself, and both the little cupboard doors had opened. This all seemed really random, although it's not the first time this has happened, but it's the first time anything like this has happened in the day time, which has supprised me a little. I quickly nipped off to grab my camera and take some photos to share with you, but as expected there is nothing in the photos other than the area I was talking about.

The crazy thing is none of the windows are open in the house, there is NO drafts what so ever, so unless the house is moving (heck), I'm a little clueless as to what this can be. Whilst I was taking the photos my gf came back from lunch and I explained that this had just happened, and she said that the small doors often open on the cupboard, and is probably because of the towels inside, but as the photos will show, there is a latch on the outside of the door, and a barrel lock on the inside, plus to be honest you have to force the doors open and shut. All of that aside, it doesn't explain why the big bathroom door shut ? the door isn't weighted, nor is the door prone to closing on it's own. If you leave it open, it stays open until you close it, this could be hours or days later.

The other odd thing I noticed in the picture is two of the dogs toys in that area. The dog at the time was on the sofa, and only came to investigate when he heard my lens adjust on my camera. I've never known the dog play or place his toys here, but again it could just be a coincidence.

Toys

It seems to me that most of the posts I put on this blog are all based on events that happen on a Thursday evening when I'm home alone with the dog. I've no understanding as to why this is the case, but like this next event, it took place on a Thursday evening (29/01/15), in my front room, whilst I was home alone.

So, I was sat in my favourite chair in the front room with the dog sat beside me. I wasn't watching anything in particular in fact I think I was waiting for a program to start. Well I'm sat there when all of a sudden one of my (step) grandsons toys makes a noise all on it's own. The toy never moved neither did any of the other toys around it, and if my memory serves me correctly, the toys actually hadn't been played with for 4-5 days.

Now when this happened both myself and the dog genuinely jumped, and my dog slowly crept towards the toy, but remained a good 4ft away from it. I got up to take a look, but the toy made no noise when I shook it. The toy in question is a mini work top, with a drill and saw on it, but all of the toys require a movement of about 2-3" before they make a sound, and as the toy was on top of the others, well I'm still a little confused as to how this could happen.

This photo was taken that evening with my mobile phone.

Sounds of confusion

Again it's been a little while since I last posted on my blog, but as I keep saying, I'm really trying to ignore anything that happens in my home. The shadows seem to still happen, but normally in darkened rooms, and when you walk past them, and I don't mean mine, I mean stood in the rooms away from the walls. The dogs behavior has gotten much better, although he still has a tendency to wander off at night time and play in the front room on his own, he also still looks into space a lot, but only in the front room, but maybe that's just a dog thing ?

The reason I have chosen to update my blog is because this was a new one on me, as it consisted of a sound and nothing else.

So last Friday after work (23/01/15) I came home, made myself a hot drink, then sat at the dinning room table to have a salad wrap (still trying to be healthy). Well I was sat at the table for about 3 minutes, and my dog was sat on the floor beside me, when we both heard this almighty ripping sound in the far corner of the room. It was as if someone had torn a massive poster or large news paper, but had in someway amplified it to a ridiculous volume setting. The dog didn't even hesitate, he jumped, then ran across the room to the corner in question, and I was hot on his tail.

I tapped the wall, and stood there trying to understand what had happened. All of the wall paper was still present and under the corner table was fine. It was just such a random sound to hear, and something that genuinely had me confused for about 4hrs that followed the event.

Some time after wards I was still tapping the wall, and wondered if an animal had slid down the cavity or something, but I just couldn't work it out. I would of left it at just that, but it was as if the sound started in the corner of the room, and just flew towards me. Genuinely really strange and very confusing.

The writing is on the wall

So Sunday morning I go into my front room to open the curtains and upon doing so I notice on the wall near the T.V (right in my eye line) some odd looking marks on the wall. Now I've tried my hardest to capture the markings with my camera, but I found it really hard getting a photo without editing it in photoshop.

At first I thought to myself it's probably the result of my grandson, but upon reflection, he hasn't actually visited the house for over a week, and even then if had drawn on the wall we would of noticed it as it's right next to the T.V.

I can't make anything out in the sense of it being a word, but I will post it anyway, and put it down to one of the oddities of living here.

All Hallows' Evening

Yes - Yes I know it's been a fair while, but again to be honest I'm trying to write less about what's going on around me and within this house, and to concentrate on the positives in my life, and my many hobbies. Plus apart from the odd noise or shadow nothing really has happened, which brings me around to last weekends events.

So last weekend it was Halloween here in the U.K. and although I don't do a great deal to celebrate the date apart from the odd candle and watching a film on T.V, we don't even get trick or treaters approaching the house ( I suspect because we are near the top of a step hill), so yes, we don't do much. Anyway, the evening before Halloween I was woken up around 3:48am by someone banging, it was 3 heavy thumps. I got straight out of bed and did the usual rounds i.e. checking the doors and windows, and although I knew the sound came from within the house, well it could of been one of a few things, so I got back into bed and fell back asleep.

Later that day I was in the main bedroom, and although it wasn't actually very late it had been a hard day at work, and I was ready for bed, but as I sat on the side of the bed I heard the door handle on the bathroom door rattle followed by the door slamming, and I genuinely mean slamming shut. Now again to be 100% honest this has happened before, but that was due to the bathroom window being left open. The thing that made me take note was the fact I knew the bathroom window was in fact shut, and the only reason I know that was because, 1. I shut it, and 2. The reason it was shut is due to the drain near the bathroom window being partially blocked and smelling pretty bad. The crazy thing was I still got up and walked to the bathroom to double check, and I went into the room only to be greeted by a closed window and little else.

That leaves me with the Saturday after Halloween, well the day had been a good day, I had family around, and things seemed fine. Then as the evening drew in I had a few guests around for tea, again very normal in my house. Basically I left all the guests in the main front room and walked off to the bedroom to close the curtains (to keep the heat in), so it was mid evening at best. Well I walked into the bedroom, put a cloth on the end of the bed, and instead of walking to the window bay to close the curtains I did a swift 180 degree turn only to be greeted by one of my wardrobe doors being fully open, which was closed when I just walked past.

I closed the door and left the room heading back out to the main front room.

Now the following day I tried to recreate the door opening, I had the door partially open, 1/2 open, closed, I even jumped up and down on the floor yet nothing, I couldn't recreate the door opening, let alone even moving in the slightest. The door doesn't swing shut, it doesn't fall open, so I've no idea as to what was going on.I don't think the calender event had anything to do with what happened over those few days, and the only thing that comes to mind is that if there is actually something here, well it's after attention. The only reason I say this is that it all feels very cliche, and by that I mean I can have people here and nothing happens, yet I wander off on my own and something happens, random.
