The Finger

On the 31st of August my girlfriend and myself had invited some of her family around for a meal late in the afternoon. The guest list consisted of my girlfriends daughter (and her boyfriend), her son and his grandson (3 years old), my girlfriends sister in law, and her subsequent son.

So the afternoon had gone really well, and we were all in the dinning room eating and chatting to one another, the grandson was running up and down my hallway screaming and play with my dog. As the ceilings in my place are rather tall you get lots of echo in the hallway, hence why my girlfriends grandson loves making noises in there.

Well the time must of been around 21:40, maybe even a little later, and my dog had taking himself off to the bedroom to have a rest. I thought nothing unusual about this, and the fact that my girlfriends grandson continued to run around and enjoy himself. But a few moments later he wandered off into the main bedroom to find my dog. Very shortly afterwards he left the bedroom and returned to the dinning room (which sits at the end of the hallway) and slowly approached his dad, at which point he said to his dad "Daddy, an old man was stood in the room shouting at me, and he gave me the finger".

At this point most of the guests tried not to laugh as they only really heard him saying "he gave me the finger" but I heard everything and also watched his actions when he told his dad.

The grandson placed both his hands either side of his mouth to indicate someone shouting, but took his right hand away from his face and pointed it out in front of himself when he said "gave me the finger". The grandson at no point meant "The finger" as in flipping someone off.

My girlfriend heard it as did her sister in law, and her sister in law looked at me, as did my girlfriend, to which she said "Maybe it was the ghost". Her sister in law tried to have a side conversation with me about the house and events, but the other guests tried to "over-talk" our conversation and move it along. It was if people had realize what he meant, and just didn't want to talk about it.

It was only about 10-20 minuets later that everyone decided to make there way home, and left. At this point my girlfriend said to me that she was going to take the dog around the block for some fresh air, and assumed I was going to look for the man, although she knew nobody was in the house.

If I'm brutally honest I got 2/3rds of the way down my hallway, and as I started to approach the bedroom it really felt like a massive weight was around my shoulders, neck and in my head. It actually felt like someone or more than one person was stood right behind me shouting at me, and it made me feel so uncomfortable I just wouldn't turn around.

I still have no real reason as to why this happened, although I am 99% confident that niether of the childs parents would of primed him to say this, and his change in mood was monumental which indecated to me he was 100% sure that he had just been told off or shouted at by an old man.
